“You have to start somewhere” – Building skills in working with dissociation in mental health services
Presenter: – Helena Crockford and Remy Aquarone
Some mental health services may have well-developed skills and services for working with service users who present with complex dissociative difficulties. However, many don’t. In our trust we knew we were struggling with this, and many service users were not getting their difficulties identified, or receiving the optimal treatment. We decided we had to start somewhere. In this workshop we will describe what we did, and reflect on the journey so far. We will compare and contrast this with some other examples of strategy and service development around the country.
