Working with complex trauma and dissociation in Military veterans

Presenters: – Dr Jennie Ormerod and Dr Ashleigh McLellan

The workshop will explore some of the issues in working with complex trauma in military veterans.  For example:  engagement, acceptance of impact, working with shame, impulsivity, fabrication and nature of traumas involved in e.g. client as perpetrator.

Dr Ashleigh McLellan is a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist.  Ashleigh has been working in the NHS in adult mental health for 13 years which has encompassed varying presentations caused by trauma in childhood and adulthood, including military trauma.  For the past 5 years Ashleigh has worked in the Humber Traumatic Stress Service alongside Jennie, expanding on her experience with veterans, complex trauma and dissociation.
